London Underground Chooses VivaSoft

25 February 2010
The Connect digital radio and transmission system team at London Underground has chosen VivaSoft support services to assist in the maintenance of their mission critical bespoke subscriber management software solution.

The Connect system, a £1.2 billion Private Finance Initiative (PFI) provides a fully integrated communications system which will serve London Underground well into the 21st century. The system supports new types of services and more efficient ways of working, bringing benefits to both the customers and staff of London Underground.

Some of the VivaSoft directors have a track record with the Connect system team that dates back many years and have contributed to the success of this system from its initial planning and implementation phases through to the current day to day management.

The subscriber management or fleetmapping software was designed by Phil Lofting, a VivaSoft Director and arguably the world’s leading authority on fleetmapping software, to address London Underground’s unique operational requirements. The software was critical to the successful implementation of Connect. It was originally used as a planning and productivity tool to automatically create and then Provision the first Fleetmap to Motorola’s network infrastructure. Today the software is still used to Provision the network and plays a fundamental role in the ongoing management of the Connect Fleetmap.
